Ahead of the Curve

All items Free People (clearanced!) except the boots and beanie.

This week was tiresome. Between exhaustion from the festival and being too busy at work, I just wanted a simple life. So here is it. No accessories, nothing fancy. A simple life.

Now for my weekly love link up with Buttons and Birdcages, something that I truly find brings a positive vibe to my week.

  • To my brother who is letting us split our phone bill with him to save money, you are amazing.
  • To all the wonderful posters of this Apartment Therapy thread, you have all brought encouragement and helped me see a brighter side of life. Posters who find food banks for strangers living in a different state or city are always a beacon of hope to those in need.

  1. I just popped over to that Apartment Therapy thread...it was refreshing to see so many kind comments - probably some of the best, most thoughtful, I've seen on a discussion of the topic. Kinda gives me a little more hope for humanity. I think there's such an amalgamation of assumptions made regarding folks trying to "make it" on minimum wage...overwhelmingly often negative ones. Hats off to AT for the post and to those who responded with such good will. Thanks for sharing this, Liz!

    1. You are most welcome! Yes, it was refreshing. Even now, with my husband being unemployed, it is hard to get by on one income. I make more than minimum wage, but not much! It was helpful to see compassion and to see that others struggle too.

    1. I actually buy very few items directly from Free People. I shop them on sale at Nordstrom, Macy's, Shopbop, Zappos, among others. These are items I have had for a while, from various clearance racks. :)

I would love to wear a cardigan myself but right now I'm stuck in tropical and very warm Singapore so that's not really an option haha. Also love your weekly posting of things your grateful for! It's always good to keep track of the many ways in which each of us is blessed :)

  17. What great Free People finds! Long cardigans over shorts and short sleeves is a great chic look that I haven't tried before. I love your version of it; hope you don't mind if I steal this idea for the future.
